PEREYASLAV COMMUNITY LEARNED ABOUT RELEVANT SKILLS OF THE 21ST CENTURY
In the conference hall of the Pereyaslav Employment Center, we met with community activists: center specialists, government officials, employees of the social services center, social protection department, and children’s service.
Olha Veselovska, head of the Association of Women Ambassadors of Ukraine, noted that the work on economic empowerment is characterized by a systematic approach and includes psychological support and career guidance programs, an educational component, mentoring support, the opportunity to join a community of like-minded people, close cooperation with local authorities and businesses on internships, employment and starting a business. “An economically empowered woman is a woman who has the opportunity to constantly develop and improve her knowledge, skills, and abilities,” added Olga.
She also spoke about the theory of change when women, in particular from vulnerable groups, are economically empowered, namely, when they are in a friendly environment, have the opportunity to improve their knowledge and skills, are financially independent, i.e., are employed or engaged in entrepreneurial activities, receive economic benefits and control them. In this way, structural changes in the social, economic and institutional systems in which women operate will become sustainable, which will ensure the removal of obstacles for future generations and the well-being of the nation as a whole.
Anna Radionovska, a career development mentor, also spoke at the meeting, explaining all aspects of employment, how and on what principles employers look for employees, and how to interview with a human resources manager. And Ksenia Makarevych, a self-presentation mentor, spoke about how to find and prove yourself in society.
At the meeting, they discussed important topics related to women’s economic development and financial independence, agreed on cooperation and identified its main directions.
In particular, a number of events and programs were planned with Liubov Krasova, head of the Pereyaslav department of the Boryspil branch of the Kyiv Regional Employment Center, to attract interested women to free training courses, webinars, motivational programs and mentoring support from the Association of Ambassadors of Ukraine.
